TOOLS & SHOP SUPPLIES D11 D12 D13 D14 FALCON (Brazing Rods) Cadmium free silver brazing alloy. The only flux coated silver flux strong enough to clean oxidized stainless steel. No odors from rubberized compounds yet the flux coating is totally flexible and non-fragile. APPLICATIONS: Low temperature joining of dissimilar metals - including stainless steel, brass and copper. Excellent where tolerances and fit are not perfect. Special “Fast Flow” flux coating provides twice the base metal cleansing action of conventional silver flux coatings. Cadmium free rod can be used in the food, medical & pharmaceutical industries. WELDING TECHNIQUES: After cleaning metal, preheat generally to 350°F (200°C) then heat the joint area to 800°F (420°C). Melt off some flux and allow it to flow throughout the joint. Then add alloy. TEMPERATURE RANGES: Working Temperature: 1245°F (674°C) Melting Range: 1175°F (639°C) Solidus 1235°F (670°C) Liquidus TORCH SETTING: Slightly carburizing TYPICAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES: Undiluted Weld Metal Maximum Value Up To Tensile strength 68,000 psi (465 N/mm2) Yield strength 54,000 psi (372 N/mm2) Elongation 25% Hardness Brinell 120 DIAMETER PART LENGTH RODS PER (INCHES) NUMBER (INCHES) 1/4 POUND 1/16 818301 18 8 3/32 818303 18 4 DEFENSE (Brazing Rods) Bronze brazing alloy with slick, smooth moisture sealed flux has triple the shelf life of similar products. Flux cleansing action is exceptional on dirty steels and cast irons. APPLICATIONS: Torch brazing most steels and cast irons. Especially suited for joining thin sections. Unique “Safe Vue” flux coating eliminates harsh chemical odors and the bright orange visibility blocking glare of conventional sodium type flux coatings. WELDING TECHNIQUES: Insure that parts to be joined are clean. Pre-heat general area to 700°F (400°C) and then specific area to 1200°F (650°C). Melt off flux and apply alloy. TEMPERATURE RANGES: Working Temperature: 1595°F (878°C) Melting Range: 1583° - 1620°F (870° - 885°C) TORCH SETTING: Neutral flame.
